Welcome to the website of Beyond the Rift, a livejournal-based original and pan-fandom RP!

We require all prospective players to read the premise, the rules, and the FAQ before applying - failure to do so might end up in you having absolutely no idea what we’re on about and your app being rejected.

New players are also encouraged to take a stroll through our wiki for information on a lot of little things that aren’t covered in the FAQ.

SO! If all you Riftvidders could email me (evie [at] beyondtherift [dot] com) with a link to download your vid and the following form filled out, I’ll get those all up as soon as possible!

I’ll put up info and this form and everything on this site ASAP (not right now - right now I go to bed), and when you make your new vids, simply upload your video to the internet somewhere, email me the link and the form, and I’ll put it up for you! Simple as that. ^_^

So we’ve added a meme community to the list of metacomms - for you to post memes done for your character, so the results don’t drown our reading lists! It didn’t used to be a problem, but it’s been a while since the last time we had widespread memeposts, and we’ve gotten more players and more characters, so it’s time to move those out of the main circulation!

So, if you’ve got a meme that you’d like to do for your character, go right ahead! Just post to that comm as much as your little meme-loving heart desires. :)

So Jackie pointed out something that makes me sorta sad:

Our cast is basically “Pretty White Kids With Problems”. I can think of three characters who aren’t Caucasian off the top of my head: One’s Asian and in Tokyo, one’s black and recently deceased, and one’s Hispanic and probably going to be killed off soon.

Now, I’m not saying that we’re all ZOMG BAD RPERS or that we HAVE to go create/pick up people who aren’t “pretty white kids”, but it makes me sad that in a city that really should have quite a bit of ethnic diversity, our cast is… white.

So! This is not a requirement, but a request - for your next oc, think about having a PB who’s not white. For your next fandom character, think if you know any characters who aren’t white that you might like to play. WE ARE TURNING INTO A WB PRIME TIME SHOW, GUYS. NEXT THING YOU KNOW, UTERUS INDIE ROCK WILL BE OUR ONLY BACKING MUSIC!

HOKAY PEOPLE! Those of you who still want to put in apps for the Carnival plot, you have TWENTY-FOUR HOURS! By 9 PM PST ON TUESDAY, MARCH 31, you MUST have your Carnival apps in or they WILL NOT be accepted!

We want to get this plot up and running, and now’s definitely the time to get cracking! :D Thanks for all the apps that have come in, I can’t wait to see what Jackie and the Fabulous Maximilian J. Maxwell can come up with for us!

So get those apps in! You’ve got 24 hours… GO!

Don’t forget that applications for The Carnival are still open!

We can’t begin the chaos and glee until we have your carnies! Send up to TWO apps (which do not have to be as long or detailed as normal apps, just give us the basics) to mods [at] beyondtherift.com, and we and Jackie will review them!

If you need inspiration on what kinds of characters might be interesting, take a look at BPAL’s Carnaval Diabolique. We will not be accepting applications of these characters, but it’s a good place to start for inspiration!

Okay, so the power is out at Aubrey and Evie (and Jaqui)’s apartment complex. And all down the street. No one knows why, yet, or when it might come back on. SO. Hopefully we’ll be back within a couple hours, but if not, grab Rizzy for any mod-related things. We’ll be back when we can be back!

As stated in this OOC post, Jaqui has started to get the Carnival up and running, and we’re now accepting applications for whatever Carnies you can come up with! They are temporary characters, so you don’t have to go into quite as much detail on the application, but don’t leave it too blank. The apps will be approved by both Jaqui and the mods.

The wonderful magi has set us up the forum! It’s based on the wiki registration, so if you’re registered on our wiki, then you can log in to the forums. If you’re not registered… why not?

It was conceived as a place to do the really down-and-dirty plotting, so there isn’t a requirement to be in chat to get in on things. But, really, it’ll be a place for whatever it turns into a place for! It’ll probably take some time to really pick up, but we have high hopes for it! So go on! Go post!
